About me

I am a qualified, UKCP registered, Integrative Psychotherapist. I have a private practice in Solihull on the South Birmingham/Warwickshire border, offering short-term and long-term counselling and psychotherapy for individuals.

I work with people experiencing a number of life challenges and difficulties such as stress, anxiety, depression, low self-worth and self-confidence, family issues, relationship difficulties, health concerns, and work-related issues as seen in the press https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/worklife/careers/a37937296/what-is-imposter-syndrome-meaning-test/

Drawing on both my professional background and many years of rigorous study and practice of psychotherapy, I have cultivated a capacity to listen and think at a deep level, enabling me to ask precise questions through compassionate challenge and respectful inquiry. I combine these skills with a warm, perceptive and empathic manner which can enable you to develop greater awareness, insight and opportunities for change.

How I work

At the heart of my practice is a belief in the importance of the therapist-client relationship. I therefore provide a compassionate and emotionally safe space for us to explore whatever challenges you may be facing. Through our mutual commitment and collaborative way of working, we will be able to make sense of what you are feeling, so you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, make different life choices and find new ways of coping and responding to your current difficulties. Therapy provides an opportunity for you to reflect upon what is troubling you, away from the distractions of everyday life.

I have experience of working with clients from all walks of life and social and cultural backgrounds. I have also worked in corporate environments for over 20 years, across a range of sectors. From my time working with Board Members and Lawyers in a national firm, I have first-hand experience of the psychological pressures working in a demanding, high-achieving, professional environment can bring.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
