About me

Hi, I'm Sam 😊 I'm an Integrative CBT Therapist. I offer a safe space where you can talk through how you are feeling, without any judgement, and work towards your goals.

In our sessions I can support you:

  • to talk through your experiences openly
  • to understand yourself and your behaviours more
  • to gain confidence and increase your self-worth
  • to understand and manage your emotions
  • to understand and improve your relationship with food and your body
  • process and heal from trauma (including PTSD/CPTSD)
  • to live a neurodivergent-friendly life (ADHD/Autism)
  • to reduce and cope with anxiety (to stop anxiety getting in your way)
  • to decrease symptoms of depression and feel able to enjoy life more
  • change your behaviours and habits (and break unhealthy cycles)
  • understand boundaries and how to break the cycle of people-pleasing (learning how to say no, and make space to prioritise yourself)

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy depending on what you are looking for.

If you notice the way you feel or your reactions feel bigger than what's happening in the moment, your past may be impacting your present.

We can explore how your previous experiences might be impacting your here-and-now and help you to feel more able to cope with your feelings and be able to respond more in line with how you would like to.

Therapy can ease the pressure and stress your mind and body can feel, provide you with skills to cope, and can help you to re-connect with yourself, others and the world around you in a healthier way.

Trying to find the right type of therapy and therapist can feel overwhelming so make sure to give yourself credit for taking the step to look for a potential therapist and I hope you get the support you deserve soon.

If you have any questions please do reach out and I'll be happy to help, I offer a free 20 minute consultation call so we have space to see if my approach would be a good fit therapeutically for you and to answer any questions you may have about me or counselling in general (email: hello@samwallacecounselling.com)

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 10+ years of experience supporting individuals with various concerns including but not limited to:

Stress, Anxiety, Social-Anxiety, Panic, Depression, Intrusive Thoughts, OCD, ADHD, Autism, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), PTSD, CPTSD, Trauma & Abuse, Low Self-Esteem, Bereavement and Loss, Sexuality, Identity and LGBTQ+

I'm mindful that you may not be completely sure why you are reaching out for support - you may feel as though you don't feel yourself or aren't feeling quite right - it's ok to not be 100% sure about why you need help or what help would be best. Part of therapy will be for us to understand what's feeling difficult at the moment and we can collaboratively work out the best way forward.

As an Integrative CBT therapist I can give you space to talk freely without judgement and help you identify and change unhelpful and limiting thoughts and behaviours to make positive differences in your life.

I can also support you to feel better within yourself, to quieten your inner critic and to find some peace.

So many of us spend so much time in auto-pilot coasting from day to day, putting up with bad sleep, low mood, anxiety, wasting time scrolling on social media or avoiding plans and opportunities that we would love to be a part of - you deserve to feel better and live the type of life you want to - therapy can reduce some of the barriers around us and help you to feel more confidence to feel and do more.

I work in a trauma-informed and client-led way and bring in additional counselling approaches such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Person-Centred, and Internal Family Systems to our sessions depending on what is a best fit for you.

Therapy can help you:

  • have space to talk openly
  • move away from feeling stuck
  • feel less numb
  • break unhelpful cycles
  • make room to care for yourself
  • live a life that you want for you
  • navigate the world and your relationships in a healthier way
  • build tolerance and resilience to cope with uncomfortable emotions

I understand it can be difficult to make time for yourself or to put your own needs first - therapy can help you learn how to make time for you without feeling as guilty.

  • Diploma (PgDip) in Counselling and Groupwork: A CBT Approach
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills (COSCA)
  • Psychology (BA Hons) - 2.1
  • ASIST Suicide Intervention Training
  • CBT-T (Ten Sessions For Non-Underweight Eating Disorders)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
