About me

I am Rosanna Guneratne, offering face-to-face, psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy in West Wimbledon.

Perhaps you are looking for some help with issues of anxiety or depression, which are affecting your day to day life. You might be feeling a bit hopeless and feel tired of life and are looking for change.

Are you feeling a sense of loss of who you used to be or would like to be and are curious to see if therapy could help? Loss is central to many of our issues. The loss of identity or from an actual bereavement or loss of purpose in life. Is there a voice inside stopping you from living a fulfilling life and you want to talk to someone, without feeling judged, to help you make sense of your life.

I work as a psychodynamic therapist, and I will explore the hidden feelings, thoughts, trauma, rejections and losses, which hold you back from becoming your true self.

My Experience

I have extensive experience working with clients from all different backgrounds and with a range of emotional difficulties. In addition to seeing clients privately, I have worked at a large local community counselling service, seeing clients referred to me by their GPs for a variety of issues. I have worked with young adults at Roehampton University and have particular expertise in helping young people to cope with the pressures of work and life after leaving home.

I previously worked for many years as a television producer in daytime television and have lots of experience of working under extreme pressure, tight deadlines and learning to cope with day to day stress.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
