About me

Currently able to offer online video support using a number of different platforms.

Hello and welcome.

My name is Rob and I am a qualified integrative counsellor based in Derby. I imagine that by finding yourself here you are looking for some support in life's struggles, and my service is here to provide just that. Reaching out can be a challenging thing to do, and I appreciate that for some, coming to meet with a counsellor can be a huge step. I am here to help you to gain some clarity, and provide a compassionate space to equip you with the understanding and tools to overcome your struggles. No problem is too small to talk about, and I believe that everyone deserves to have their feelings and experiences treated with respect.

I work Integratively with a blend of evidence based approaches; Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Attachment. I have over two years experience working at the eating disorder support organisation First Steps ED. Throughout this time I have worked to support a range of other mental health struggles such as anxiety, low self-esteem, abuse and trauma.

I welcome any interest in the service that I offer, and happily encourage you to reach out with any questions. Your first session will cost nothing so that we can get to know one another and ensure that I am the right counsellor for you. I aim to be as flexible as possible with booking, offering evening and Saturday appointments.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc Psychology with Business Management

Over 2 years of clinical experience at First Steps ED providing psychotherapy to individuals struggling with Eating Disorders and other mental health difficulties.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
