About me

I am a transpersonal psychotherapist and counsellor and have have been running a practise for over 15 years. I offer a warm, welcoming, safe and confidential environment. Counselling or psychotherapy is a journey of growth & self-discovery. It is about getting to know yourself better by gently peeling back some of the layers and bit by bit opening up to deeper levels of who you are.

How counselling can help

Psychotherapy or Counselling is an effective and powerful way of helping you move forward in your life, resolving some of the areas that may feel ‘stuck’ or holding you back from being happy. You don’t have to be in crisis, just a desire for more freedom and expansion in your life and feeling ready and willing to make some changes.

Life’s problems can be seen as opportunities for growth to help bring us to a place of deeper understanding of ourselves and counselling is a way of finding your way back home to your true sense of who you are. It’s about helping you to take the steps that you need in order to feel happier, more at peace and personally fulfilled.

What to expect from your first session

The first session is free and is 30 minutes. It will be a time to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for me and my way of working. I will ask you a few questions, particularly about what you are most wanting from counselling. It will be a time in which you can open up as much or as little as you want. Afterwards you can reflect on how it went for you and you only need to get back in touch if you decide you would like to continue.

Some of the areas I can support you with are:

  • Self-esteem/confidence
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Bereavement
  • Relationships
  • Direction
  • Meaning & purpose

About Me

I am a transpersonal psychotherapist and counsellor with a passion for peoples personal development, growth & well-being. The potential for people to move into a more connected and heartfelt way of being is what inspires me to do this work & I very much look forward to meeting you if you decide to pursue this path. I will be standing with you, helping you to find the best means to help yourself. There is a magic that can happen when both client and counsellor meet with a mutual intention to go deeper on the journey together of discovery and healing.

My Way of Working

My overall approach is Transpersonal and I work in a way which is pragmatic and integrative, utilising whatever is needed to best suits your needs. Transpersonal simply means that there is an awareness of the spiritual dimension and our potential to connect with deeper levels of our being, beyond the confines of being identified with our separate, individualistic self with all of its survival concerns. It is the journey towards being a more whole & complete human being

The sessions tend to unfold in a natural and organic way without the need for rigid structure, often in ways that are revealing and surprising. Sometimes this will involve me simply listening and encouraging you to go deeper, to bring more of yourself out. At other times I may offer feedback, insights or offer a practical way of exploring things further, often encouraging you to connect with your bodies awareness of the deeper feelings that may be there.

I also have an interest in the Systemic perspective of Family Constellations based on my recent studies in this field, and this interest filters into my work with clients This way of working can be brought more directly into the sessions if you want to explore this.

I am based in the 7 Dials area, about 7 minutes’ walk from Brighton station. There is pay & display on-street parking.

I also do sessions on-line via Skype, so you can do this from wherever you are in the world.

You may wish to have an initial 30 minute session to get a feel for myself and my way of working. This initial session is free.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a UKCP and BACP accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, completing my training in 2006 with the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. I have a Masters degree in Transpersonal Psychotherapy and Counselling from De Montfort University.

I have completed a foundation year in Body Psychotherapy & Somatic Awareness with the Chiron Centre and this emphasis on connecting with what is happening in our bodies is a key part of the way I work.

As well as working one-one with people I have for many years been running groups and courses in self-awareness, mindfulness & emotional intelligence for people seeking empowerment and change.

I have trained in the facilitation of Family & Systemic Constellations with The Centre For Systemic Constellations (CSC) and this has now become a central part of the way I work, incorporating it wherever appropriate.

I have recently studied Sacred Esoteric Healing with Universal Medicine which is about understanding our capacity for self-love and self-care and gently opening to our essence at a soul level and I have found that this approach naturally permeates into my therapeutic work  helping people to drop deeply into their heart.

I adhere to the code of ethics of the governing bodies for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK and I have regular supervision to support me with my work.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Some people come for a set amount of sessions that is agreed upon at the beginning. For example a series of 10 sessions. A ‘one off’ single session is also possible.

Really there is no right way of doing it and it is about what you feel you are needing. We would usually discuss this question during the first session so that you come to an arrangement that feels right for you.

I also do sessions on-line via Zoom or Skype, so you can do this from wherever you are in the world.
