About me

  • How can counselling help?

It can be tricky navigating through life, we sometimes face adversities and find it hard to cope. It can take its toll on our well-being. We are all experts in ourselves however, sometimes when we feel we are walking in the fog and need someone to help us find our way, a counsellor can be the person holding your torch offering you the support you need.

  • Who am I?

My name is Rachelle, I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor. I have worked with young people for 17 years in pastoral and counselling roles within educational provisions and charities. I have 3 years of experience working with adults in the same way.
I have a ton of lived experience, being born, and growing up as a black woman of mixed heritage in North London and an artist outside of my counselling practice my life has not always been straightforward. The way my life has panned out has enhanced my empathy in my counselling practice. I am a very honest person, very transparent, and just a human being like you.
I have experience working in the public and charity sectors as a manager and support staff.
I am a registered member of the BACP, and I follow their ethical framework which you can find on their website. I am also a member of the Creative Counsellors and trained in creative therapy with them.

  • Why did I decide to become a Person-Centred counsellor?

Back in 2003, whilst working at a building society, I felt this line of work wasn't something that aligned with me. I always wondered what my life would be like if I had someone who could offer me support whilst I was in my earlier years, so I decided to pursue that idea. I left my job and made a career change by starting work in schools. I also enrolled on my first CPCAB counselling course and never looked back. I obtained my level 3 by 2006, however, due to finances did not complete my studies until 2022. In those 16 years in between, I have worked for charities and the education sector with mainly adolescents and young adults offering them pastoral support.

  • What do I offer my clients

My purpose as a person-centred counsellor is to support my clients to be able to develop a better understanding of themselves; empower and increase their confidence within a client-led safe space to enable them to live their life in the best way for them.
The safe space I provide will be a 50-minute session where you will be provided with a confidential and non-judgemental environment, where you can bring anything that you would like to discuss in your time

  • Access to my services

I currently offer online, face-to-face and walk-and-talk therapy. I try to be as inclusive as possible within my remit, so please contact me if you have any concerns. I would love to one day live in a world where everyone can have access to counselling regardless of intersectional barriers, therefore I will try and accommodate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As a Person-centred counsellor, I am open to clients from all backgrounds and will be honest in our initial meeting about how we can work together.

In my career as a pastoral worker, ChildLine counsellor and now a person-centred counsellor, I have met many people with a variety of life experiences and I am open to all but, also honest about my capabilities.
