About me

 Why counselling?-

Your emotional, psychological, and social well-being is important. It affects how you think, feel, and act on a daily level. It also helps determine how you handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through to adulthood. If yours feels out of balance you may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed.

Counselling can give you a non- judgmental, confidential space to address the issues you are facing as an individual or couple, and find balance.

Grief, change, relationships, parenting, family, problems at work, school and home can all contribute to challenge our resilience and self confidence.

What to expect-

I offer a safe space for you to talk, gain clarity, heal and process past experiences. I can support you to examine your life through different lenses and reconnect with yourself and others in a positive, compassionate and empowering way.

I work in collaboration with my clients and support them to find their own solutions. It’s my belief that we are the experts of our  own lives and I support all my clients in a respectful and compassionate way.

I offer the following sessions online or face to face in Exeter.

  • Individuals £50
  • Couples £75
  • Concession £40

What is Integrative counselling-

To further support your journey with me as an Integrative Therapist I am trained in a variety of interventions that can be blended together to support your needs.
These includes:

  • Narrative therapy can help you to look at your past experiences in different ways using timelines.
  • Attachment theory can help you to understand how you relate to others. E.g. You might find it hard to trust people or commit to a relationship.
  • Transactional analysis- helps you to have better conversations with yourself and others by exploring the ego states you use in different situations.
  • Creative techniques like using music, clay, beads, shells might help you to see hidden parts of yourself and get in touch with your subconscious.
  • Mindfulness can support you to empower yourself in the present moment in order to gain a sense of calm and clarity.
  • CBT provides techniques and strategies for you to address negative thought patterns that direct unhelpful behaviour. This can form part of an approach to coping with overwhelming feelings of anxiety.
  • Your self - care is important. Together we will look at how you support yourself in difficulty and how this can be improved through self compassion.
  • Psychological education can help you to understand what impact stress has on you both mentally and physically.

My Philosophy

  • Person centred- Empathy, non judgment and authenticity are at the centre of my work.
  • Humanistic- we are equals and will  work together.
  • Pluralistic- We are all individuals and therefore are likely to benefit from different therapeutic methods at different points in time.( no one size fits all)

I follow the Bacp ethical guidelines. Which includes:

  • I aim to support you respectfully and without judgement.
  • I do my best to use my skills to support you. If I don’t think I have the capacity do this, I will be honest and refer you do someone that does.
  • what you bring to our sessions is confidential.
  • I keep up to date with my training

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
