About me

Do you feel that somewhere along your journey of life you have lost sight of who you are? I offer a retreat that's not about escaping from life, but returning to ourselves.

You will be given support to reconnect with yourself and others in your life through a journey of self- discovery that will become the foundations of your personal growth.

Testimonial

'I've been attending counselling sessions with Pooni for almost 18 months. During this time my wellbeing has really improved. Pooni is not only a compassionate listener but she has also helped me to understand and accept myself, enhanced my ability to cope with challenges, and enable me to communicate better with the people in my life.' Rob ( name changed).

I can support you to pivot the direction of your life and help you see your foundations for confident living.

Whether you want to address unhelpful behaviours, past experiences or new beginnings, I can support you on your journey.

Once you feel ready to begin your retreat back to yourself, please do arrange a complimentary introductory session or contact me via phone or email.

'If light is in your heart, you will find your way home.' Rumi

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Bacp).

I believe you are the expert of your life and my aim is to work with you in a collaborative way that enables and guides you to create a safe path towards your own solutions and a more hopeful future.

My practice offers a safe and confidential environment both online and face to face counselling that can support you to make sustainable changes in your life.  I use a range of interventions, that include CBT, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy, Narrative therapy, Attachment theory, Existential and creative therapies. I believe that often there isn't just one therapeutic approach that can help a client in all situations. Every client I see is different and therefore a combination of interventions are used to enable a holistic approach.

Some of the areas I work in are: Anxiety including Social anxiety,  Depression and low mood,  Cultural issues, Money issues, Marriage and Relationship issues, Menopause, PTSD, Abuse, Racism, Trauma, Grief, Family  and Health issues.

I have also completed further training in Safeguarding children, Managing disclosures safely and Domestic violence and Anxiety in Children and young people.

I provide Online(Adult only) and  Face to Face counselling in Bexleyheath, Exeter and Axminster to individuals aged 11-111years

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
