About me

Hello, my name is Pia, and as a fully trained and accredited psychotherapist working in York, it would be my pleasure to help you.

As a humanistic and integrative therapist, my way of working is an honest relationship of respect, warmth, curiosity and creativity. I provide a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space for clients to explore issues that are impacting their lives.

My training began with a person-centred approach, which led me onto an integrative training with a foundation based on Transactional Analysis which I incorporate an in-depth understanding of developmental theory, attachment and mindfulness. This allows me to draw upon many different schools of thought when working with people, ensuring that the client does not need to fit the therapy, instead I can fit the therapy around the client.

As a native Finn, I have a deep understanding of the power of being outdoors and how it can be both healing and support the wellbeing through connection to nature. I will combine more traditional psychotherapy with nature-based psychotherapy and where appropriate with phototherapy. My sessions take place in the therapy room and if agreed, later sessions can be based also outdoors throughout York.

I offer short-term solution focused based therapy and longer term, in-depth psychotherapy. I have 10 years of experience working with both adults in the NHS and in my private practice in Middlethorpe. It is a short distance from York city centre, with free parking available and is located to a nearby bus stop.

I hope this helps to give you some idea of who I am and how I work. Please feel free to call to arrange a free 15 -minute consultation to discuss your needs with no follow-on obligation.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Warmest wishes,

Pia
