About me
I'm Phil (he/him), a qualified and registered male counsellor offering in-person therapy and support to individuals and couples local to Wolverhampton, Dudley, South Staffordshire and surrounding areas. I also offer online video sessions in these areas as well as throughout U.K.
I work under the business name of Just Allow Now, as a relational, humanistic, integrative counsellor; this means that I draw on various complementary therapy modalities to offer to my clients rather than a single counselling approach. The main integrated counselling modalities and therapy theory I use to inform my work with clients are Gestalt, Psychodynamic, and Person-centred. I utilise the relationship we build between us to help us understand your experiences by exploring what materialises between us during sessions.
I have a very collaborative approach to counselling. I want you to feel that someone is with you, actively helping you to make sense of your experiences and what is going on for you. It’s important to me that you don’t feel that you are on your own in trying to understand your behaviours, thoughts, and feelings. My style of therapy is to actively assist you in exploring your experience. Not only to listen during sessions, but to also work together in understanding why you may be feeling the way you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have qualified with a First from a BACP Accredited Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy Foundation Degree at Newman University in Birmingham, a Diploma in Integrative Couples's/Relationship Therapy, as well completing various post graduate CDP training courses. I work in private practice as Just Allow Now and I also work for the Kaleidscope Plus Group in West Bromwich offering therapy services on a volunteer basis.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) the largest professional organisation for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
