About me
Welcome to Healing Lane Psychology. I'm Dr Yiota Stewart, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. I feel strongly that we all deserve to live with respect, self-compassion and self-regard. I bring to the therapy room many years of experience in working within NHS and third sector settings. Over the years, I have developed an expertise in working with difficulties which relate to experiences of psychological trauma, such as PTSD, complex-PTSD, difficulties managing strong emotions, relationship difficulties, negative self-view, anger and anxiety. I have worked in specialist trauma services for the past 8 years and have developed an expertise in this area. My experience and training in various therapeutic interventions will help us develop an appropriate treatment plan which will be guided by your wishes, how you like to work, and your therapy goals. I will help you build on, and strengthen your internal resources, and help you develop new ways of helping yourself. I will strive to create a safe, and non-judgmental therapeutic space.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am trained in CBT, and Psychodynamic Theory. Post-qualification, I have undergone specialist training including Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR model, Mindfulness Based interventions, Schema-Focused interventions and Compassion Focused Therapy. I choose the most appropriate from these models, depending on the need and goals of each person.
Together we can form a shared understanding of your difficulties, understand how they have developed, and consider ways to improve your quality of life, and to live in line with your values. I am here to help you until that point where you feel skilled and confident to help yourself. In this way, recovery continues beyond our time working together.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
