About me
Hello, I'm Noreen a very warm welcome to you.
I work with adults, couples, children, adolescents and young people.
Have you reached that point where you know something needs to change but you're not quite sure what? Let's see if we can start to make sense of things and bring you a bit more clarity and understanding. You can be safe in the knowledge that I have undergone a full and extensive training, I am qualified to deal with a range of presenting psychological issues. I am trained in major models of therapy, my core being including Person Centred humanistic, with additional training in CBT, DBT and Rewind technique, all of which are grounded in evidence-based practice. This means I can work Integratively, using researched techniques that work for each unique individual on a personalised basis.
I Know that this process can be a little bit intimidating reaching out for help is incredibly difficult, especially doing it for the first time.
This could be the most important step on your journey so far, it's normal to feel nervous to begin with. I will do what I can to help you feel at ease and ready for whatever comes next.
I will listen to you without judgement in complete confidence. I will offer my insights to help you explore how you would like your life to look and what you may be able to do to bring about those important changes. There's no magic wand, no overnight cure, but there is a space to decide what is important to you. We can work through any feelings of self-doubt, shame and fear and begin to hear your voice.
I love my work being a witness to my clients change and grow is a real privilege I'm continually grateful to be placed in a position of such trust as they move towards a more fulfilling phase of their lives.

You may have had expectations and judgements throughout your life, supressed your own feelings and beliefs to be accepted, and this has worked so far, but somewhere there has been a shift and your feelings maybe difficult to contain, leaving you feeling anxious, depressed, unresolved trauma being triggered? Using Person centred approach, I offer a non-judgemental space where you will feel able to reflect on your thoughts feelings anxieties and concerns.
Together, in a therapeutic relationship we can explore the impact these have on your everyday life I can support you in processing and identifying areas of difficulty and support you in moving forward
Addiction
I am an experienced addiction counsellor, and I am passionate about helping the alcoholic, addict, explore the root cause of their issues helping you to navigate a life free from addiction.
Alcohol and drug use increased during the pandemic, according to a recent 2020 survey, an estimated 25.9 million people had higher rates of alcohol consumption after Covid 19 than before, and 10.9 million had drug use increase. Is this something you have become aware of? What was occasional social, manageable use, has your occasional enjoyment become more of a dependency, a need?
Or perhaps it’s your loved one that has the addiction? having a negative impact on you and your family’s life?
I have special interest in working with the family & carers, “Is addiction affecting your home life? “Does it feel like the right time for you to reach out? It is so common to loses yourself whilst supporting your loved one in what can seem like a rollercoaster of ups & downs, leaving you feeling anxious or depressed.
You may feel that you are alone, feeling powerless? Shame, guilt, not coping very well? I'll work with you to help you find better solutions and make decisions which bring about changes you need to make to your life.
Children & Adolescence
My experience as a mother and grandmother supported by my work with children and young people provides a 360 approach to therapy.
Working with both primary and secondary aged young people from aged 5- 18 years at school counselling associations including Places 2 Be and Entrust, I have helped many young people to understand their feelings, manage difficult times, become more aware and work towards achieving their full potential.
I believe that each child is unique, and adapt my approach to the individual needs utilising play and talking therapy for both long and short term counselling.
I can enable your child to unlock and explore their inner strengths to manage difficult times and build a skillset to thrive through life’s challenges.
Bereavement & Loss.
Losing someone close to you is one of the saddest and most painful experiences you can go through. You may feel as though the rug has been pulled from under you it can be difficult to contemplate what life might be like without your loved one
When you first experience loss family and friends will rally round to support you but as time passes there often is an expectation to move on, to get over it, but grief has no timetable, your bereavement is unique and will last as long as it needs to. I can provide empathetic support using Lois Tonkin’s “Growing Around Grief “model, which suggests that we do not move on from grief but we grow around it. I can offer you a nurturing and caring environment to help you talk about your feelings and cope with your loss and realise there is no right or wrong way to feel There is a famous saying that goes “grief is love that has no place to go” I offer you and your grief a place to go, to explore and to remember.
Relationship.
Couples counselling, addresses the problems arising from adult intimate relationships. The relationship rather than the two individuals is the client.
As a couple, we bring our individual experiences of childhood and our parents relationship to our own intimate partnerships.
Pressures of work, family, money and health can also take their toll.
In Relationship counselling it can be helpful to talk to someone together about what is not working between the couple and can be easier to hear each other in the presence a witness.
I will also help you find ways of communicating more effectively and resolving conflict.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
