About me

Hello, I am Naomi and I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Practitioner Member of The Black, African and Asian Network (BAATN).

I believe that Counselling is a unique collaboration, where I will work alongside you. As an Integrative Counsellor, I work relationally and use a range of counselling theory, including Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Gestalt, Transactional analysis and brief solution focused therapy.

Using a blend of different counselling approaches and theories, allows me to tailor my work to your specific needs. I will listen to you without judgement and help you to gain clarity, explore the difficulties, rebuild self-confidence, manage anxiety, learn to sit with the difficulty, discover skills and strengths to enable you to explore the challenges that arise in life and find ways to help you feel calmer and more in control of your life.

I am especially interested and experienced in work involving;

  • Confidence and Self-Esteem rebuilding
  • Bereavement and Loss
  • Racism
  • Bullying, Discrimination and harassment
  • Work related stress
  • Change, transition and uncertainty
  • Infertility
  • Relationship issues
  • Depression and low mood
  • Stress and Anxiety

I provide a confidential, safe space for you to explore your feelings and thoughts, so you can be heard with compassion and without judgement.

I run my Counselling practice Online, working with clients across the world and see all of my clients remotely *(excluding USA / Canada).

Experience

Over the past 10 years, I have been a Counsellor in Secondary schools, Higher Education and within the NHS Occupational Health service.

I am a former Associate Lecturer and Personal Development Group Facilitator, for a Masters course in Counselling and Psychotherapy, in the UK at the University of the West of England  (UWE).  My Associate Lecturer role involved enabling Trainee Counsellors to safely explore Group dynamics, reflect on links to past patterns of behaviour, gain a greater sense of self, and to find different ways of responding to others, and assessing trainees written work over the course of the academic year.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
