About me

Welcome, my name is Naheed, and I am a Humanistic Integrative therapist, working from Nottingham, in-person and online.

We can all experience dissatisfaction within our relationships at some period within our lives. Sometimes we need support to understand what we are feeling and struggle with anxiety and depression or feel trapped as a result of past events. I am committed to providing support within a safe, empathic, and confidential space where you can explore your experience with respect and understanding.

I  have an in-depth understanding of the experiences of a wide range of women particularly in the context of being a daughter, sister, mother, wife, friend or colleague and can offer fresh insight to familiar patterns.

I am passionate about supporting women through the challenges associated with life's transitions. Whilst this is unique to every woman it can show up as feelings of anxiety and depression. low self-esteem and lacking self-belief. You can also feel unworthy and lose confidence in yourself-the result of many experiences which we can explore together. I can help you to identify your relational patterns, manage stress & anxiety, build your self-esteem & confidence, help you to process traumatic experiences and understand your complex feelings.

For the past 2 years my work has focussed on supporting women impacted by their experiences of early relational trauma, emotional neglect, sexual abuse and eating disorders . I have worked within an educational setting, providing therapy to young women working with their feelings of identity, low self-esteem and anxiety.

I offer culturally attuned therapy to women from a variety of backgrounds often very different to my own. I respect our similarities and differences recognising we all have unique life experiences. and challenges.

My priority is to create a genuine, warm and non-judgmental therapeutic space, where you can, at your own pace unpack and explore your experiences. If you would like to identify with yourself better or develop your self-awareness to improve your relationships, or need a compassion filled safe space, then I am here to listen, understand and support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have studied for 3 years and qualified with a BSc Hons in Counselling and Psychotherapy gained from The Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute (SPTI).

I am registered with the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.

I have been working with women from a range of ethnicities, cultures and social backgrounds for over two years and am currently an associate psychotherapist with the Nottingham Counselling Service. I have also worked as a counsellor in a further education college and now work in private practice in Nottingham.

I undertake regular supervision with a BACP registered supervisor. I  like to keep abreast of new and developing research frequently updating my skills through continued professional development workshops.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
