About me

Choosing a therapist is an incredibly personal decision that involves connection, empathy, and trust. In order to support you in overcoming obstacles in life and promoting personal development, I provide a unique combination of compassion, experience, and evidence-based techniques to help with various mental and emotional issues. My therapeutic approach is based on a strong sense of sensitivity and understanding, and I work hard to provide a secure, accepting environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of being judged or rejected.
Your progress, wellbeing, and general fulfilment in therapy are my top priorities. I'm here to assist you through a difficult period, help you explore identity and self-esteem issues, or help you find relief from the symptoms of depression or anxiety. I'll be there to guide you along the way with kindness, patience, and resilience. My commitment is to genuinely understand  your perspective and provide you with compassionate support during the entire process. As I consider us as partners assisting you in achieving your goals, therapy is a collaborative experience. Together, we will explore your ambitions, challenges, and strengths in order to give you the tools you need to achieve significant life changes.

My Therapeutic Approach

Through integrating Person-centred Approach, Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I understand the importance of tailoring my therapeutic practice to best suit each client's unique experiences, preferences, needs and goals for therapy. These three modalities are highly researched and widely used due to the many unique attributes that they bring to the therapeutic space.

In therapy, I think the full person—mind, body, and spirit—should be taken into consideration.  I take into account how several facets of your life interact and impact one another, even if we might concentrate on certain problems or difficulties. By adopting an integrated approach, we may identify underlying patterns, examine significant connections, and encourage long-lasting growth and development.

My commitment is to deliver a culturally appropriate treatment that respects and acknowledges your identity, history, and values.  I work to provide a therapy setting that is inclusive and accepting of diversity in all its forms because I understand how important cultural elements are in forming our experiences and perspectives.

Delivery of Sessions

I provide both in-person and online therapy services because I recognise how hectic and unpredictable life can be and I want to give you the flexibility to get the help you need in a way that suits you.

I work with clients aged 16+ only.

Initial Phone Call

We can arrange a time for us to have a chat about what you are wanting from therapy, ask any questions about what sessions look like and generally just get a feel for whether you feel that therapy with myself is right for you. Please email me regarding this before booking through the link at the top of the page as my availability is subject to change throughout the week.

Assessment Phone Call

If you would like to go ahead with sessions, we will book in a time for an assessment to be completed, where we can discuss your motivations for therapy in more depth and I can get some personal details from yourself in order to ensure your safety and wellbeing throughout sessions.  Clients often feel a sense of hope after these assessments as they are great for pulling apart what we can aim on working towards.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accredited) from a level 7 course.

I have experience working in a variety of settings including education settings, hospitals, charities and private practice. I am currently self employed in private practice as well as being an associate therapist for Empower Therapies. I also offer counselling to students at University. I am currently conducting research around social media and mental illness in young adults.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work with clients who may be struggling with low self esteem, low confidence, anxiety, depression and trauma related to their relationships or family. I am particularly experienced in working with people aged 16-55 and enjoy building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust and respect. I am a believer that therapy should not be strict, rigid or too formal, but a space for exploration
