About me

In the midst of life's complexities and demands, it's not uncommon to feel a sense of unhappiness or disconnection. Our work together will create a space for you to delve into the reasons that led you to therapy, bringing attention to areas that may not be immediately apparent.

In my view, therapy is centred around establishing a vital connection and ensuring a safe environment. Choosing the right counsellor, someone with whom you genuinely connect and feel secure, is paramount. If you're considering whether I'm the right fit for you, please don't hesitate to contact me. We can arrange an initial appointment to explore this further.

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals as a Coach and Therapist, working with adults of all ages, students, and young people (aged 13 plus).

As a Humanistic Therapist, I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and change. Our work together will begin with where you are now and aim to help you find your own path through the challenges you have chosen to bring to therapy. Therapy is a journey of self-exploration, greater self-awareness, and understanding of oneself.

You may be considering therapy because you feel anxious, lonely, angry, depressed, or overwhelmed and vulnerable. There are times in our lives when we feel stuck, like nothing is changing, when we don't know what to do, or we feel lost. You may feel that you can't confront those emotions alone or with the support of those around you.

Whether you're dealing with a specific life event, a recurring pattern of thoughts, or a more pervasive sense of unease, therapy provides a dedicated time and space to unravel these complexities. It's an empowering journey that involves working with uncomfortable emotions and embracing moments of self-discovery and growth. Together, we work to untangle the layers of your emotional responses, fostering a deeper understanding of yourself.

A Therapeutic Approach Tailored for adults

As a Humanistic Therapist, I believe that we all have the capacity for growth and change. Our work together will begin with where you are now and aim to help you find your own path through the challenges you have chosen to bring to therapy.

I have experience with navigating and addressing a range of complex emotions, including anger, shame, guilt, and anxiety. Identifying patterns that may have emerged in one's relationship with oneself, with others, and with the external world.

I have a particular interest in working with people who find talking about their feelings difficult and problematic. Opening up about one's emotions can be an overwhelming task, and it's common for people to face hurdles or encounter emotional roadblocks in the process. Together, we can explore and navigate the changes and uncertainties you're facing, adapting to your preferred pace, whether short or long term.

Nurturing Resilience: A Therapeutic Approach Tailored for young people.

In my interactions with young people, I tailor the environment to cater to the specific needs of each person I am working with. I customize a unique support package based on the requirements and approaches necessary for each individual. My goal is to ensure that each person is not only listened to and understood but also empowered to navigate the intricate challenges of adolescence.

As therapist working with young people, my commitment lies in establishing a nurturing atmosphere that encourages personal development, self-expression, and the cultivation of positive connections.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
