About me
Hello, my name is Melanie. I am an experienced person-centred counsellor. Are you struggling to cope with life circumstances? Does life feel like it currently sucks? Do you have difficulties with anxiety or depression, or low mood? Then I am here to listen and work with you to better understand your experiences. I offer face to face and online video counselling on a one to one basis with people aged 16 plus. Daytime and evening appointments are available.
Coming to counselling is a step in a positive direction and as your counsellor, I will welcome you with kindness, an attitude of acceptance and no judgement as whatever you are working through, I believe that you are doing the best you can. My approach to counselling is to put you at the heart of the work we do together, with you taking the lead and setting the pace of your therapy.
I will provide a supportive space where you feel understood, heard and empowered to make positive changes in your life. Counselling appointments usually last an hour and can be on a weekly or fortnightly basis, whichever suits your circumstances.
I have worked with people struggling with a wide variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, addictions, bereavement, loss, loneliness, illness, stress, anger, self-doubt, self-esteem, self-harm and many more.
If you would like to get in touch or have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to be contacted by phone or email, whichever is best for you. If you reach out and I am not available, I will get in touch as soon as I can. I offer an initial 20 minute phone call for us to talk, for me to get an understanding of why you are seeking counselling and see if we are a good fit for working together.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
