About me

Welcome to my page. Do you have problems weighing on your mind and need space to make sense of them, or is life causing you stress and anxiety and you are struggling to navigate your daily routine?

Counselling can enable clients to open up and share their feelings and emotions. As they begin to trust the relationship, difficult emotions and life problems that are blocking a chance of living a full life, can be explored and unpicked leading to improved wellbeing and a stronger sense of self.

I can support you through difficulties with family, friendship or work relationships, experiences of anxiety and depression which may be impacting daily life, or other life problems where you feel stuck or uncertain can be worked on in sessions too.

My work also includes working with clients who are bereaved, are experiencing issues with peri-menopause/menopause and working with parents/carers with children with additional needs.

I also work with trainee counsellors who are having personal therapy as part of their course.

I offer counselling over Zoom or face to face in Worcester city centre. My room is near to Worcester Foregate Street station for clients travelling into the city centre.

As an integrative trained counsellor I work using a range of approaches which match the problems of the client. This could include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to manage unhelpful thoughts or a psychodynamic approach to unpick difficulties formed from childhood. The core to my practice is working from a person-centred approach which means the client is at the centre of the work. This can enable clients to create change and reach their potential.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This is an ethical organisation which ensures I am practicing safely  with my clients.

If you feel that counselling may be something that could help, please email me and we can discuss what you would like to work on. I also offer a free introductory phone call to talk through any questions and discuss availability if you feel that is more comfortable.

Then, if it feels right, we can begin our work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and continued my studies by achieving a Masters degree in Counselling where my research examined the psychological effects of the menopause in women.

I undertake continued professional development through reading, podcasts and lectures on a range of counselling subjects.

I have experience of working with adult clients of all ages with issues including bereavement, relationship worries, anxiety and depression and clients with children with additional needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
