About me

I have experience working with attachment. In life, this can feel like trying to thrive in the present but feeling stuck in amongst feelings, behaviours and experiences from the past. This might be affecting you in relationships, family life or at work.

I have also worked with Cruse Bereavement enabling me to support people who have experienced loss. These sessions allow you to talk about the things you perhaps can't say anywhere else.

I have completed research on the psychological impacts of the menopause in women and these feelings and struggles are welcome into session as you navigate daily life.

My work also includes working with parents with children with additional needs. Sessions allow parents/carers space to off load the feelings and frustrations they carry as well as celebrate the joys and we can work together to find the person amongst it all.

Through the work together I have seen people begin to feel confident in making their own decisions, changing aspects of their life, finding it easier to do things that were difficult before, even if these things look easy for everyone else, or making bigger shifts and fulfilling dreams or ambitions that have been on hold.

Sessions can be held face to face or online. I offer a free half an hour initial session to allow clients to explore their presenting issues and see how we can work together. My office is in the centre of Worcester and there is a lift available to reach my therapy room if needed.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This is an organisation which ensures I am practicing professionally, safely and ethically.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and continued my studies by achieving a Masters degree in Counselling at the University of Worcester. My research examined the psychological effects of the menopause in women.

I have twenty years experience working with young people, adults and parents in schools, colleges and alternative provision where I supported in areas including social, emotional and behavioural issues, additional needs and pastoral care.

I have volunteered for Cruse Bereavement supporting people experiencing grief and loss. I also have experience supporting parents with children with additional needs after working for Nurture Hub Therapy Services.

My work and professional interest often focusses on attachment, childhood and working towards being the person you want to be.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
