About me

I have maintained a private practice for the past 20 years.
The sessions are held at my lovely comfortable home. Ideally the sessions are on the same day at the same time, to encourage continuity, when perhaps you feel your life is fragmenting.
I am a qualified psychotherapist and supervisor, registered with UKCP, the UK Council for Psychotherapy.
I trained at the Karuna Institute, Devon as a Core Process Psychotherapist.

The half hour introductory session is free, if you would like to extend the time to a full hour I do charge at my normal rate. If you feel you would like to work with me, I ask for an initial commitment of 8 sessions, on the 8th session we have a review and decide together whether to continue the therapy process. I work across the age spectrum, my youngest client was 16 years old and my oldest client was 75 years old. I reserve a number of concessionary sessions, if you are in receipt of benefits or on a low wage.

I believe therapy is a journey, grounded in trust, compassion and empathy and I am deeply concerned with helping you to bring awareness to the conscious and unconscious aspects of your being. I believe that healing comes from an awareness and understanding of the ways we hold on to our suffering, and how our lives have been affected by our past conditioning. One of the core principles of my therapeutic modality, is that awareness is in itself healing and transformative. My modality is Core Process Psychotherapy, which is underpinned by Buddhist psychology, it is a mindfulness based psycho spiritual therapy. I use mindfulness and body oriented techniques, as well as western psychotherapeutic approaches. I am an experienced meditator of many years and I can offer teaching and guidance in basic mindfulness meditation, to help your healing process and your journey of self discovery.

My specialist areas include: anxiety disorders / panic attacks, depression, post natal depression, relationship issues, I have many years of experience working with the trauma of physical and emotional abuse. Stress, including work related stress, low self esteem and poor body image.

I am a qualified psycho dynamic couples therapist. I trained with the Tavistock Instituite and have been working with couples since 2017.

My work is regularly supervised and completely confidential.

Training, qualifications & experience

I graduated from the Karuna Institute in Devon in 2012 where I studied Core Process Psychotherapy for 4 years. Previously, I worked for a national mental health charity, RETHINK, as a counsellor and advocate for families living with and coping with a loved one suffering from a severe mental illness.
I am a registered UKCP psychotherapist and Supervisor.

At the beginning of my practice I have offered an online service using the platform Zoom, for clients and supervisees, who are geographically too far to travel to my therapy room. I will continue to offer that service as part of my practice after the lockdown restrictions are lifted

In 2015 I completed the OPAL Mindfulness based Supervision training in Bath. I am qualified to supervise psychotherapists, counsellors, alternative therapists, trainees social workers, Care Home Managers and all employees working in the caring professions.

I charge £55 per one hour of supervision and offer a reduced rate for students and trainees.

In 2017 I completed the Certificate in the Study of the Couple Relationship with the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, and in 2018 I completed the Advanced Certificate.

My background and degree is in Fine Arts, and for several years I worked with people with a physical disability as an art therapist. I studied a Master degree in Life Skills, and for many years I ran a skills group for women returning to work, assertiveness training for women and advocacy skills for young adults with a learning disability.

I support my sister who has been suffering from a Bi Polar Disorder for the past 30 years. And I have also helped my son to full recovery from a depressive illness which he experienced in his early teenage years.
