About me

During this ever changing and uncertain time I am offering counselling face to face, via telephone and video to all who want to be seen, heard and supported at this time and I would be pleased to hear from you to discuss your individual needs.

Sometimes life throws challenges in the path of our happiness and we feel 'stuck' and unable to put our finger on the reasons for the unhappiness or to find solutions. I work with adults, teens and couples who are looking for answers and help with issues that matter to them. I also work with divorced and separated couples and their children, supporting them in navigating a new way of life going forward.

I am a passionate people person who offers warmth, empathy and understanding and together we will form a trusting and therapeutic relationship whilst you explore your current situation. As a qualified counsellor dealing with such issues as depression, low self esteem, addiction, self harm, disordered eating, stress and anxiety, intrusive thoughts, trauma, loss and grief, abuse, anger and many other presenting issues, we will work together focusing on your particular needs. Whether the issues you may be facing are current or historic, counselling offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place where together we can explore your situation and gain a deeper understanding of how you can move forward with greater confidence and successfully manage solutions.

Coming to counselling can feel like a big step and if this is the first time you have considered experiencing this time of personal exploration and growth please discuss any concerns you may have.

I have 12 years experience as an Integrative Counsellor and my work combines several different counselling approaches depending on the needs of each individual client.

My core theory is the 'Person Centred' approach, in which I believe every individual has the ability to heal and make the right choices for themselves given the right environment and encouragement. I also use elements of  Psychodynamic therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches which helps towards understanding how you became the person you are today, how you relate and communicate in relationships and how you can make changes in your thought process to lead a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
