About me

As an integrative CBT informed practitioner, I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. I recognise that everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, I draw from various theories and therapeutic techniques to provide a comprehensive and personalised approach to therapy. In our sessions, I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I will provide tools that will help you beyond therapy and support you in day-to-day life.

Throughout our therapeutic journey, I will respect your comfort level and challenge you appropriately. We will proceed at a pace that feels both comfortable and sufficiently challenging for your growth and development. My goal is to provide support, and encouragement as you navigate your personal journey towards healing and self-discovery.

Remember, you are the expert on your own life, and I am here to accompany you on this path of self-exploration and transformation.

At times, the reasons we seek therapy are evident, like experiencing a challenging or traumatic event, feeling disconnected or isolated, battling anxiety, depression, or struggling with unproductive behaviour patterns. However, on other occasions, the reasons might not be so apparent. You may perceive life as stagnant or lacking inspiration, or perhaps societal pressures and social constructs have become overwhelming.

No matter what emotions you’re experiencing, we can work together to explore and understand them.

Areas of expertise:

Stress and societal pressures
Modern life is rife with societal pressures, particularly in the realm of high-pressure jobs. The relentless demands and expectations placed upon us can give rise to a host of negative psychological experiences, such as anxiety, imposter syndrome, low self-esteem, burnout, and perfectionism. These factors collectively contribute to feelings of inadequacy and dissatisfaction.

If any of this resonates with you, you’re not alone. I work with many clients to help them achieve a better work / life balance and understand what it is they are feeling.

Feelings of disconnect
I specialise in working with individuals who often feel disconnected from life. They may sense that their true selves go unnoticed by those around them and find themselves sacrificing their well-being to fit in with others. Regardless of how it feels, there is a gap between who they are and how they currently exist in the world.

When we can’t be true to ourselves and struggle to meet others’ expectations (or our own), it can lead to feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and fear of rejection.

Therapy provides an excellent opportunity to delve into the underlying issues and discover methods for fostering transformation.

Gender, sexuality and identity
As a gay psychotherapist I have been on my own journey and understand how daunting sexuality and gender can be. I have a deep understanding of the struggles that can arise from growing up feeling different from others. Feelings of detachment can lead to feelings of profound sadness, which can sometimes lead to depression, and anxiety. Additionally, it can trigger a profound sense of shame and greatly impact one’s self-esteem.

As your therapist, my role is to provide unwavering support and a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore and navigate complex emotions. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where clients can freely express themselves, empowering them to embrace their true selves and cultivate a sense of inner strength and acceptance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
