Louise Underwood BSc (hons), MBACP
I understand that taking the first step into counselling can be difficult. I work just outside of Tunbridge Wells in a comfortable space where I will welcome you from first contact with warmth, respect and listen to you without judgement. There are no expectations of you to be anything other than yourself. I will assure your safety and confidentiality and work with you, building a therapeutic relationship. Through this relationship you can explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the present and safely examine and understand past experiences that may be impacting you in your life today.
I have experience working with clients who present with a variety of issues that are affecting their mental well-being. The list includes; relationship issues, loss and bereavement, family issues, affairs and betrayals, anxiety, depression, fertility problems, post natal depression, miscarriage, abuse, low self-esteem, work related stress. I have experience of working with a number of clients with CFS/ME, particularly young people.
I work with young people from the age of 11yrs with a variety of issues such as anger, aggression, anxiety, loss, through death or marital breakdown, low self esteem and low self confidence.
I am a humanistic counsellor which means I believe you are the expert on yourself and therefore in control of what you wish to explore and understand. I use an integrative approach so my theoretical understanding allows us to work according to your needs and goals that you choose.
I have worked in schools and a busy GP practice and I have 18 years experience as a Nurse.
Please call or email me to have a chat about what you are looking for in regard to counselling.
