About me

My approach is integrative, which means I have been trained in several different modes of therapy. Psychoanalytic, Humanistic, Existential, Body psychotherapy to name a few. With this training, I work to tailor my therapy to the needs of each individual client. No two people are the same, and I believe that working with each person should be primarily about them, creating a collaborative and empathic space in which my client can grow.

I offer a free initial phone consultation which will usually take about 15-20mins. This will allow you to ask me any questions, and we can discuss what may have led you to seek out therapy so that I can get a better understanding of your needs and what may be the best fit for you going forward.

Each of my sessions is 50minutes long and they will be the same time each week. The slot will be yours as a guaranteed space for you for the duration of our work together.

In our first session together I may ask a few questions to gain more clarity on what your needs are, and to make sure you have space to talk about any aims or specific things you might want to work on and explore. There will also be some time set aside for contracting and working out any logistical things that need addressing such as payment, and what to expect from the therapy going forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have spent four years in training, one on foundation and three earning my diploma in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. Throughout my training, I worked with private clients, and, at an addiction centre working closely with people suffering with drug and alcohol dependency. I also have experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, eating disorders and those who simply feel in need of some lasting change and self-work, whatever that may be. There doesn’t need to be a specific reason pinpointed to seek out and benefit from therapy.

Prior to this training, I completed an undergraduate degree and then a postgraduate certificate in education which led me into teaching English and drama at secondary school. I saw firsthand the stress young people go through, and this was one of many reasons for my change in career into counselling and psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
