About me

For whatever reason you may be seeking help, it's a brave step to acknowledge and address this by taking the first step in looking for support...

I understand there can be times in life, where we may need help to weather emotional difficulties we encounter, through bereavement or loss of a relationship, job or life changes, stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship problems (including how we feel about ourselves).

I am here to help you.

I'm Lisa, and I offer a warm welcoming, safe and non-judgemental place, to share what's going on for you.  Working together at your pace, I will invite you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences to help you gain some understanding and awareness. By doing so, you are providing the potential for change and choices and I will support you along the way.

I currently work in private practice with Adults and young people 16+, and I have a wide experience of working with bereavement and loss, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, low mood, stress, low self-esteem and lack of confidence.

I have 4 years experience as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, incorporating Person Centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis theories, which means I use different ways of working for your unique and individual needs.

How to get started:

You are welcome to contact me by email or phone with brief details, and I will aim to respond within 24hrs. We can arrange a free 20 minute consultation for us to talk about what you would like to address and gain from counselling and to ensure I am a good fit for you.

Once you are ready, we can then agree how you want to go ahead with weekly / fortnightly sessions. I welcome your contact and look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Somatic Trauma Therapy and Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Theory.  I do regular continued professional development training, which forms an important part of my practice. I also work with Dorset charity, Mosaic working with bereaved children and young people.

A previous career working as a Holistic Therapist / Reflexologist has given me a wealth of knowledge around health and wellbeing as well as experience working within drug and alcohol recovery treatment centres, both in the UK and Portugal.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
