About me

If you find you have become overwhelmed by feelings such as anxiety, anger or sadness I offer a safe and supportive space  to unpack those emotions and gain a better awareness of your own processes.   We can work together  to understand better what is happening in your life today and perhaps how previous events and patterns may be affecting you.

I work with a range of emotional and relationship issues including depression, anxiety, bereavement, loss, abuse,  chronic pain,  work stress, abortion, life transitions, isolation and low self-esteem.

I understand what a huge step it can be to reach out for help when feeling anxious, isolated or helpless with the added concern of not being understood. I offer a 20 min free initial zoom session whereby you can gain an initial insight as to whether we might be a good fit

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor/psychotherapist.  I trained initially at the University of Hertfordshire where I was awarded a  Foundation Certificate and subsequently completed my training at The  Counselling Foundation in St Albans, obtaining both a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma.  As part of my personal development, I continue to explore different therapeutic approaches to enrich and enhance my work with clients.

As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), I abide by their code of ethics.

I have experience working with a wide range of clients and in addition to my private practice, I work with clients at the Counselling Foundation in Broxbourne, a charity funded organisation. I also have experience of working for Herts Mind network.

In November 2019 I completed a training with the Foundation of Infant Loss which has provided me with a deeper understanding and professional capacity to work with clients who are seeking help in relation to sudden infant loss or stillbirth. My work in recent years with Age UK has given me greater empathy in relation to the emotional struggles experienced surrounding loss of loved ones, increased dependence and ailing health which often accompanies the latter stages of life

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
