About me

Hi, I'm Linda.  Taking the initial step towards positive change can be challenging, it might feel like climbing a very steep mountain.

Looking for a counsellor takes courage and strength, and you've already taken a positive step toward a brighter future.

Life can sometimes be difficult, and this causes us to experience a variety of feelings and emotions. These emotions can lead to feelings of anxiety, guilt, fear, anger, hopelessness, confusion, and depression. These feelings have a big impact on your self-esteem and confidence.

Life events, such as grief, abuse, relationship breakups, trauma, illness, childhood trauma, family breakdowns, work, or stresses of everyday life can all contribute to an increase in our anxiety levels.

I understand how overwhelming this feels, seeing the 'wood for the trees' seems almost impossible! The effect this has on your emotional and physical well-being can be truly impacted.  But, together we can explore what's going on for you so that you find calm and clarity in your life once more.

As a compassionate counsellor, I can help you to understand what triggers your emotions and will help you find ways to manage and make sense of them, giving you back a level of control over your life.

My goal is to support you through that process in a non-judgmental way. I will listen to your story with warmth and understanding in a confidential calm space, where together we can discover new ways for you to manage your emotions with a clearer more focused mindset.

Trusting someone new can feel scary, but, together we can build a therapeutic relationship where you feel comfortable talking to me about what's happening in your life at a pace that feels right for you.

I understand trust takes time to build, and I will not press you to discuss anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or, that you feel is too painful to share.

I have a volunteering history in, Anxiety, Depression, Bereavement, and Abuse. Some of these charities I continue to work with and support. I have also worked for a crisis line offering one-off support in moments of crisis.

I work alongside clients who are dealing with stress, anxiety, abuse, trauma, depression, grief, helping people come to terms with loved one’s illnesses and terminal diagnoses, low self-esteem/self-confidence, and relationship difficulties. Or, if you just need someone to talk to when things seem difficult to understand.

I offer one-hour face-to-face sessions at my practice in Medway, as well as one-hour online Zoom sessions. I also offer home visits if you cannot access face-to-face or an online platform. (This would be dependent on location, distance, and needs).

I also offer therapy to trainee Person-Centered Counsellors who are on placement or in their 2nd year of study.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
