About me

If you're struggling with personal issues and need someone to talk to, I'm here to offer you a safe and confidential space where you can explore your life experiences without fear of being judged. I'll listen to you with empathy and understanding and help you work through any challenges you're facing.

Life events can leave us not feeling ourselves, and seeking help can be overwhelming. As a qualified Counsellor, I have experience working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. I know that circumstances can leave you feeling unmotivated and low, but I am here to offer you support.

I currently work as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor with University students and as a private counsellor with adults and teens. I also provide counselling support for both family members and those directly affected by cancer with Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

It's great that you've already taken the first step by acknowledging that you need some extra support. Why not take the next step and give me a call? I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss what you hope to achieve from counselling.

How I work:

I am a person-centred counsellor who integrates techniques from other modalities when applicable to provide the best support for your needs. The core of my work is to provide a safe environment for you to explore the difficulties you are facing without judgment. I believe you know yourself the best. My job will be to help facilitate your journey through reflection and processing. Additionally, I may use elements of my mentoring skills when appropriate if suitable and helpful for your needs. I have a myriad of resources which I will share if applicable.

As a person-centred counsellor, I want to allow you to focus the sessions on whatever you wish them to be each week. I will provide a safe space for you to process these emotions and feelings each week.

First steps:

As mentioned, I know starting can be difficult, which is why I offer a free 20-minute initial phone consultation before beginning work with me. This will give you an opportunity to talk through any questions you might have, as well as decide if you think I will be a good fit for what you are looking for.

I am now able to offer both face-to-face and remote sessions, depending on your preference.

I have a lovely counselling space at Tindal Square opposite High Chelmer Shopping Centre in town. The beautiful room is a perfect environment for therapeutic counselling and is in the middle of the City Centre.

I can also offer online and phone counselling if this is your preference. Working remotely has many benefits: firstly, you do not have to travel, so it reduces cost; you can pick an environment you feel comfortable in to have the sessions, and it can be much easier to attend each week. Many clients have formed collaborative and rewarding relationships remotely, and it can be just as rewarding and successful as face-to-face work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
