About me
Welcome,
I am an experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with 23 years experience as a Psychotherapist in the NHS and in Private Practice. Prior to this, I held both clinical and managerial roles working in Mental Health Services in the NHS.
If you are reading this I imagine you may be struggling at the moment. Perhaps you may be finding it hard to cope with day to day life, work or with your relationships. Perhaps you may be experiencing confusing or unmanageable feelings or moods.
If this is the case, perhaps we can work together to explore what is happening to you and help you to understand your situation and feelings. We can then work together to think about what may need to change or be different for you to feel better, happier and more settled.
I can offer one to one treatment for the following issues:
- Depression/anxiety
- Personal crisis/stressful life events
- Confidence/self esteem issues
- Relationship problems, conflict, separation, divorce
- The effects of abuse; emotional, physical or sexual
- Eating disorders
- Loss, bereavement, grief
- Personality disorder
- Work stress/conflict
I can also offer short term (6 session model) for couples.
About me and my approach
My experience enables me to work with a wide range of psychological difficulties, including complex psychological issues, challenging relationship difficulties as well as more straight forward psychological issues.
In my work as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space within which you can talk with me to reach an understanding of your difficulties and the underlying causes and current triggers.
Treatment can be short term or longer-term if your difficulties are more complex and/or longer standing.
The aims of therapy are to reduce distressing symptoms and to work towards a more balanced and healthy way of managing your feelings and relationships. This approach can enable sustained personal change and growth so you can move forward with your life.
Referral process
You can self refer by contacting me directly. A GP, Psychiatrist or other Health Care Professional can also refer you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked in Mental Health Services for over 30 years within both inpatient and outpatient services, initially as an Occupational Therapist, then completing further intensive training to become a Psychotherapist.
Following completion of a Masters Degree I have worked as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist for 18 years within the NHS and the Private Sector. I have experience in individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy and in supervising other therapists. I am comfortable and confident in working with all age groups from 16 years upwards.
I continue to gather further knowledge as part of my CPD requirements annually and have strong links with other therapists locally for peer supervision and learning.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
