About me

Hello there,

Would you like to know a secret?

Your thoughts create your emotions and your emotions then create your behaviours; it is as simple, and as complicated, as that!

I am Kylie McHarrie and I have helped make changes to people's lives professionally for the past 8 years.

Being perceptive is a huge part of who I am. The ability to tune in to hearing what is not being said, along with a strong curiosity in what makes people cope so differently, has all led me here and to you reading this.

My career choice started once I realised those "fixer tendencies" could be put to good use; learning the appropriate boundaries, evidenced based research and transferable skills, to provide a professional, safe service for those like yourself. I would like to help facilitate the change you need, encourage your right to self govern, and support you to grow in knowledge, confidence and acceptance along the way.

The sessions you will receive are tailored personally to you, with a mix of skilled approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, to ensure your needs are being met. We will work closely together, as part of an open honest and equal relationship. You are the expert of yourself; my role is to help you discover that.

If you are motivated and committed to making changes in your life, I can provide you with insight and techniques which can last a lifetime; ultimately enabling you to reach your potential and stop coming to therapy. I know your time and money is valuable so I will be as structured and goal-oriented as possible. However, I will always prioritise you feeling emotionally held and heard and provide a comfortable space for you to do that.

As Carl Rogers would say "Over the years, research evidence keeps piling up, and it points strongly to the conclusion that a high degree of empathy in a relationship is possibly the most potent factor in bringing about change and learning."

Always set at your own pace, in a warm and encouraging environment; change really is possible.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Kylie

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
