About me

Hello and thank you for visiting my profile.

We are all living in a world that we have never seen or experienced before, this is temporary and we will get through it by standing together. I am offering online counselling via Skype and FaceTime, e mails and telephone at this difficult time and will do my very best to help you with any fears, anxiety and uncertainty you may have. Take care and stay safe.

"Nothing is predestined. The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings."   Ralph Blum

For most of us there are times in our lives when we need support to deal with difficult emotional issues.  Talking to friends and family can be very effective, but sometimes they can't help and that maybe because the issue feels too difficult to talk about.  This is when recognising the need for help and seeking professional therapy is a sign of strength and determination to live a productive, positive and meaningful life.

Finding someone you can trust and feel at ease with is important, for this reason the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy.  I would be happy to speak to you by telephone which would provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions, explore what it is you wish to gain from therapy and to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.

My aim is to provide a safe, supportive, empathic, non-threatening environment.  Where you can talk freely in confidence and without fear of judgement, about any aspect of yourself or your life that may be difficult or painful.  Giving an opportunity to explore feelings and create positive change for yourself.

Moving at your own pace, I will work with you to help deepen your self awareness and feel more empowered in your life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Introducing Walk and talk therapy. Please contact me to find out further information about this therapy. It can help with numerous problems, not purely depression, anxiety, stress, self esteem and confidence, grief and loss, but also any kind of life transitions you may be facing, personal, relationship based, family or work related. Parents with young children or babies in pushchairs without childcare facilities find this type of therapy helpful.

Usually the first session takes place at my home where we can discuss issues of confidentiality, whether we will walk and what we will do if the weather is bad. I practise walking and talking therapy whatever the weather but if you would prefer we can postpone or hold the counselling session indoors. I am happy for you to set the pace of the walk, if you would prefer to meander along and have a relaxing walk that is fine, but equally we can set a quicker pace if that’s what you feel more comfortable with. I am happy for you to bring your dog along or walk with my dog if you would like to, Willow is always happy to go for a walk!
