About me

Hi, I’m Kerry, and in addition to traditional face to face counselling indoors, I offer something a little different - nature therapy. Walks and talks in a green setting, working in as well as with nature.

Importantly, nature therapy doesn’t only offer ways to understand our issues, like anxiety, depression, trauma, and loneliness, but provides powerful ways of effecting change.  The kind of change that helps us feel comfortable in our own body.  In our outdoor sessions, it’s you, me, and nature working together to support your journey back to your true self, the one that’s always bern there beneath the stress.

I’m an Integrative Therapist, and a key way in which I work is supporting you to tune into your nervous system, helping you to not only make sense of what’s going on for you, but crucially empower you to find ways to self regulate and move forward with your life - think anxious fight or flight feelings, or flat and isolated. As we all have a nervous system, this way of working is incredibly effective for all ages.

Our journey together would also involve finding the root emotions of profound experiences that lead to issues like anxiety, depression, trauma and loss. These deeply ingrained painful emotions can be reshaped into more helpful, bearable, and accurate ways of understanding, making it easier to reframe those old, negative psychological stories we tell ourselves - this time in a more powerful, constructive way.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and hold full indemnity insurance. In addition to availability in private practice, I’ve gained varied experience with the renowned Place2Be, Fegans Children’s Charity, The Shaw Trust (community based work with adults, mainly GP referrals), I’m currently involved also a Group Support Facilitator with Hearsay Charity, as well as ongoing school-based work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
