About me

Hello, I'm Kayleigh, an Art Therapist who works in person and online.

I have experience with themes including childhood abuse, abuse, trauma, complex trauma, domestic violence and abuse, depression, anxiety,  GSRD (Gender, Sex & Relationship Diversity), neurodivergence, learning difficulties, displacement, racism and classism.

The art materials and artwork help explore expression, thoughts, feelings and different ways of communication (verbally and nonverbally), as words can sometime be difficult to find. Art Therapy can be a gentle way to express and recall memories and lived experiences. You do not need any previous artistic experiences or skills - infact, you do not even need to make any art!

There are many benefits of Art Therapy including navigating uncomfortable and difficult thoughts and feelings, this could be following changes, difficult times, traumatic experience(s) or hardships, building relationships, attachments, sense of self and cognitive development, encourages self-reflection, regulation, and confidence. It can help with decreasing stress levels, anxiety, isolation, supporting with grief, bereavement, loss and trauma.

My therapeutic approaches adapt depending on each individual persons need. I trained psychodynamically, (our unconscious mind - things were not aware of and childhood experiences, shaping human personality and relationships), and also weave into other models including client-led, humanistic, directive and non-directive (themes), holistic, relational (how we relate, connect, communicate, build relationships), creative - art, music, play, dance, narration and storytelling.

Face to face and online sessions are individual/ one to one and can be up to 50 minutes. Face to face sessions have access to a variety of art materials. Online can adapt to materials you may have (pens, pencils etc).
