About me

I am a fully qualified and accredited Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapist (MA), with over 20 years of clinical experience, working therapeutically with Individuals, Couples and Families across the age-span, both within the NHS and via my own Independent Practice.

As a specialist relationship therapist I support those navigating relationship issues such as; parenting and life transitions; loss, separation or bereavement;  trauma or domestic abuse; infidelity and betrayal; or sex and sexuality. Equally I can help clients strengthen and rejuvenate their relationships, improve communication, and gain a deeper sense of connection, intimacy and closeness.  I work with Couples and Families or all kinds, and am keen to embrace diversity. My practice is strengths and resilience orientated, collaborative and underpinned by the latest evidence based principles.

Services offered:

I am fully insured to provide a world wide online service often connecting clients across the UK and globally.

- Individual, Couple, Parenting and Family Therapy

- Mediation, Clinical Supervision and Coaching

Many private health insurers are happy to cover my fees. I also accept referrals from Social Care and the Legal System.

Client reviews:

“By creating a safe, reassuring space where we can be genuine and talk honestly, Katherine has helped us navigate the most difficult conversations and situations. With great sensitivity she encouraged us to explore and develop new and creative possibilities for living, in the wake of deep personal tragedy (Couple Therapy).”

“Regular visits to Katherine have really helped us…. We have benefited in particular from her empathetic listening, her understanding of the whole context of our situation, and her skill and tact in suggesting helpful courses of action (Family Therapy).”

“My sessions with Katherine were essential to my recovery. She was very understanding of my situation and gave me practical help which allowed me to understand and manage my negative thoughts. I always felt very comfortable talking to Katherine and genuinely looked forward to our sessions. I can’t thank her enough for the support she gave me during this difficult time, and the long term advice she has given me to prevent further issues in the future (1:1 Therapy).

"I have absolutely loved having Katherine as my clinical supervisor. She has always been so thoughtful and caring to talk too, a fantastic listener who always came up with great solutions and ideas during supervision (Clinical Supervision)."

"Just wanted to thank you for our sessions. It has been so helpful to us and we couldn’t have done it without you. You have a lovely easy-going way of talking and this made us feel very comfortable when speaking about some difficult things. Thanks again (Family Therapy)."

"I felt so supported by Katherine who was easy to talk with and encouraging every step of the way. Anorexia is a cruel bully and having as much support to beat that bully is essential. Thank you Katherine for being on our team (Family Therapy)."

“Thank you soo much for helping us to negotiate all the tricky waters with such skill and gentleness. You are a complete star Katherine (Couple Therapy).”

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience:

Within the NHS, my experience spans a variety of contexts including Community and Inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Specialist Eating Disorder Services. Prior to this I worked in Children’s Paediatric Inpatient settings and Children's Palliative Care. Alongside a clinical role, over the years, I have been involved in Service Development and Leadership, as well as providing Training, Supervision and Consultation, and worked as a Specialist Clinical Lecturer.

Regarding Private Practice, I initially worked with the Oxford Priory Wellbeing Centre before developing my own Independent Practice.

In 2018 I extended my Independent Practice to include a range of online options enabling clients to access therapy from their own homes, joining clients who may be spread across the UK and further afield, to find a space for therapy from their separate locations.
