About me

(Telephone/Video/Zoom sessions available)

Are you struggling with anxiety or depression, experiencing relationship difficulties or feelings of low self-esteem? Maybe you're going through life-changing events such as bereavement, divorce, long-term illness or feelings of being stuck and not knowing how to move forwards? If so, perhaps it is time to allow yourself some help in a confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore the issues that are troubling you.

I offer a warm and compassionate environment where you can begin to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and emotions and how they may be impacting your life and your physical and mental wellbeing. I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor experienced at supporting people with a broad range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety and low self-esteem
  • Depression, low mood or feelings of emptiness
  • Loss, bereavement and major life changes/crisis
  • Stress and its impact on work, home, relationships
  • Living with chronic disabilities, pain or debilitating health conditions, health/birth-related trauma
  • Trauma, abuse and self-harm

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)) I am bound by its professional code of ethics and practice and am committed to on-going professional development.

Experience and Background

Over the years I have worked for a number of charity based organisations, including The Counselling Foundation, Cruse Bereavement Care and with Her Majesty's Prison service. Prior to counselling I worked as a registered nurse for over 10 years, in hospitals and residential settings before specialising as a practice nurse in a GP surgery. Alongside private practice, I volunteer at a senior school counselling adolescents.

How I work

Our first session will give you the opportunity for us to meet and for you to tell me a bit about yourself and how I can help you. If you decide to continue, we can arrange a regular day and time to meet (or talk). My sessions are 50 minutes, typically held on a weekly basis. I work on an open-ended basis and offer short-term Grief therapy work. Telephone/WhatsApp and Zoom sessions are available.

Please email me/call me for more information to see how I can help you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
