About me

Seeking therapy, especially for the first time, can be a daunting experience. It is completely normal to be nervous about this. However, this is the first step in your recovery and changing your life. I will make this experience as comfortable as possible, ensuring that you feel safe to speak about and explore any difficulties that you have, with care, empathy and within a trusting and non-judgemental space.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced, highly trained, accredited, and fully qualified chartered Counselling Psychologist. I hold a Doctorate degree from Glasgow Caledonian University, in addition to a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology (DCoP).

I have ten years of experience working in adult mental health and social care. Some of the places I have worked include hospitals, residential settings, neuropsychological rehabilitation, care homes and third sector organisations. I currently split my time working in the private sector and the NHS.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
