About me
Little bit about me
Hi, Julie here! I moved from Scotland to Christchurch about 12 years ago. I run my face to face Private Practice from Highcliffe and Christchurch.
I trained as a counsellor because of my own personal experience. From when I was a young girl and into my mid 30’s I struggled with anxiety, eating disorders, relationships and I had no idea how to regulate my emotions. Therapy changed me and my life, it has helped me understand myself and why I would feel the way I did, it taught me self compassion and how to cope with the days where I couldn’t find any.
I trained for four years and continue to develop my professional skills all the time so that I can give my very best. I am passionate to pay it forward, to help others who are struggling.
How can I help you?
I have a flexible approach to therapy. I am trained in an Integrative way which means we will work together using whatever tools or techniques are best suited to you. It is a very personal journey. Together we will work to unpick what is going on for you. I am not there to tell you what to do, give you my opinions or advice on your life, but I am there to help you discover the answers within yourself, enabling you to move forward and facilitate positive change. We will work towards self awareness, emotional regulation, self compassion and empowerment. Therapy isn’t easy, it can be tough to open up and talk about upsetting feelings or events but you will never feel pressured, we will go at your own pace. You will find me to be warm, empathic and supportive of you.
My priority is to develop a therapeutic relationship that makes you feel comfortable, understood and truly heard and seen.
How I work?
Where possible I would recommend face to face sessions, however online appointments are also available.
I would recommend that you can commit to at least the first 6 sessions weekly as this is really beneficial for your therapy journey.
I do have specialised training in Eating Disorders, if you struggle with Binge Eating Disorder then please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
