About me

I offer a calm and compassionate space for you to explore and process your thoughts and feelings. We all face times in our lives that are difficult such as a bereavement, relationship break up, job loss, traumatic event or feeling overwhelmed by the stresses of everyday life. It’s OK not to feel OK, but you don’t have to struggle alone.

How I can help you

I provide counselling to adults, including young people from 18 years.

Counselling allows you time to reflect on issues and find a way forward.  My role is to support you through the process without judgement or telling you what to do. Some people have specific goals that they want to achieve from their counselling sessions, others arrive scared, confused, with no idea of what they want or what to do next. That’s fine, I treat each person individually and at a pace that suits you.

Whilst my training allows me to draw upon theories and approaches from psychotherapy, I also use my own life experience to understand and help clients. I can also provide you with tools to help you once you leave the therapy room, for example Mindfulness exercises to practice and incorporate into everyday life.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the BACP codes of ethics and practice.  All sessions are conducted in confidence.

Location

Jesmond:

Sessions are held in a pleasant room in a multi-therapy centre within walking distance of West Jesmond metro station.

Next Steps

To get the most out of counselling it is important to find the right counsellor for you.  I am happy to answer any questions you may have or just have an initial introduction via phone, email or text.

The first session enables you to meet me and find out how I work.  It enables me to find out more about you and how I can help you best.  There is no obligation for you to continue if you feel it won't work.

If you want to book a session or find out more please get in touch via email, phone or text.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
