About me
Hi, I'm Josephine, a therapist who sees distress, rage, fear, anxiety, detachment, dissociation and psychosis as a very human reaction to overwhelming life events. I believe that every single one of us has their own limit and once that has been reached, our mental suffering can be unbearable.
My role as a therapist is to provide you with sanctuary; some time and space in which you can feel safe enough to look at whatever is going on in your life. As we talk I will do my best to respond without judgment or jargon, and please rest assures - I don't shock easily. Instead I will do my best to hear and reflect your understanding, so that the picture becomes clearer and you can begin to see and understand how you wish your life to be. My aim is to help you to find hope, as we focus on what makes your life better for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Diploma (Level 5) in integrative therapeutic counselling (2024)
- Diploma in Solution focused brief therapy (2021)
- Qualified interpersonal mediator 2024.
I have worked as a counsellor at Change Birmingham Brief Therapy since 2021, and have recently qualified as a mediator.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Before you decide about starting therapy with me I offer a free 15 - 30 minute chat by 'Zoom' to help you to decide if you would like to book therapy sessions. If you would like sessions, they usually happen at the same time, day and location each week. How many sessions is your choice. Sometimes just once session is enough, and then you are welcome to get in touch by email to request another session whenever it would be helpful for you to do so.
