About me

Hello, welcome to my profile, my name is Jon and I offer a down to earth, caring counselling service, free from judgment. I will do my best to help you achieve the outcome you are looking for. I run my practice from my comfortable private counselling room pictured below. I am currently working both face to face and online.

How counselling can help:

We all face challenges and there are times when things can become overwhelming. It's at times like these that we may need a helping hand, a safe place to talk, someone to talk to without feeling judged and someone who will listen to you.

Talking about issues that are bothering you can be difficult at times, sometimes even to those that are close to you. You may feel that they just don’t understand. You could be left feeling you have no one to turn to. This is where Counselling can give you that opportunity to explore whatever it is you are feeling at a pace that suits you in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment. A good starting point is to find out, not what is wrong with you but what has happened to you.

Making the first step to see a counsellor and start therapy is a brave and courageous thing to do. If you feel a little unsure or anxious about starting therapy, I will do my best to help you feel at ease, so you feel comfortable sharing the reasons that brought you to therapy. Whether you are experiencing past or present trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, suffering from some form of abuse or just feeling sad and need someone to talk to. I will do my best to help you see that healing, positive growth and change can be accessed now, in this present moment. Together we can explore your feelings and life experiences, so you find a greater understanding of yourself that will help you feel you are living a fuller, more rewarding life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
