About me
Hello, thank you so much for visiting my page. My name is Jo and I’m a qualified and registered counsellor who works in a person-centred way while also adapting my approach to suit each client’s needs.
Are you experiencing difficulties with low mood or lack of motivation which is having a negative impact on your wellbeing and happiness? Or are you feeling stuck and unsure about how to move forward in your life, either because of something that has happened or even without any clear reason?
Maybe you regularly feel anxious or on edge, or you find yourself overthinking and worrying excessively about things or perhaps life feels really overwhelming right now.
If any of this sounds familiar you are not alone - I am here to listen.
Whatever has brought you here, I can support you in making sense of what is going on for you and in finding your own way forward.
The foundation of my counselling approach is person-centred counselling which simply means that I work in a way which promotes client autonomy by supporting rather than directing and in doing so putting clients in control of their healing. From counselling with me you can expect a safe, warm and non-judgmental space to explore things and my support in finding a way through.
While person-centred counselling forms the basis of my approach, I also work in an integrative way where appropriate. This means I include elements of other approaches such as CBT in my work (for example work on challenging irrational or negative thoughts) or looking at relaxation, grounding or coping strategies in order to tailor my approach to suit individual needs.
I will listen fully, empathise and value what you say. I will never judge you and will always be genuine and myself.
So if you are feeling lost or struggling with your thoughts or feelings and would like some support I would love to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
