About me

I am trained as both a therapist and a coach and I use both disciplines with my clients to help them improve their lives. Research has shown that combining the two disciplines offers a greater post intervention success rate than traditional counselling. Please read my blog on why this approach may work for you. Many of my clients come to see me because they find that traditional counselling does not work for them, they want techniques and interventions to move them forward as well as a space to express themselves. I offer face to face sessions in central London and online sessions. I also offer free 30 minute telephone consultation to help you decide if I’m the right person for you.

I work with clients with a whole host of issues, including but not limited to depression, self esteem, anxiety, childhood issues, workplace coaching, confidence, neurodiversity and burn out. I have a special interest in anxiety and also in the inner critical voice.

I hold a masters degree in Counselling and Coaching and also have over 20 years of experience working in a corporate environment to Vice President level, which allows me to understand issues with regards to the corporate world.

I am trained to work at depth and to work within all timescales - past, present and future. If you are looking for long lasting, recognisable change, I can help you achieve this.

Apart from my own private practice - I also am a Director of Blackwood Consultants and work with organisations to provide support, coaching, therapy to their staff. I have also co-founded a charity offering low cost counselling and wellbeing programmes in East London and worked as a counsellor for the Amy Winehouse foundation - supporting women in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction.

I am a member of the BACP and am fully insured.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
