About me

I am a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with people who have experienced persistent mood difficulties and traumatic events.

With regards to trauma, I can provide therapy from single events, such as a road traffic accidents, to complex and chronic experiences such as racism, stigma and childhood maltreatment. I have expertise in therapies that target flashbacks, extreme emotional distress, reliving and unpleasant physical sensations.

I also specialise in persistent mood and identity difficulties, such as recurrent depression, chronic anxiety, changeable mood and low self-esteem. Persistent mood difficulties can be the result of earlier experiences including trauma, but also experiences such as attachment difficulties, relationship difficulties and life stressors. Such experiences can create often create further issues such as feeling stuck, alone, chronic emptiness and existential crises.  I can offer a range of therapies addressing issues related to mood, including ones that tackle intrusive and problematic thoughts, intense mood and physiological sensations.

Within both my NHS and private practice, I have worked extensively with people from disadvantaged backgrounds and people who have experienced various types of hardships. These life circumstances are important for us to hold in mind as we work together as are often a source of continuing distress.

Central to the approach I provide is the therapeutic relationship and providing a compassionate and sensitive approach. This provides opportunities for us to explore your unique life story and what has led you to this point. The creation of a safe space also creates opportunities for us to make meaningful changes and to bring about a resolution to your difficulties.
