About me

Hello I'm Jane and I am an integrative, person centred counsellor based in Kingsteignton near Newton Abbot.

If you are looking for a friendly, welcoming person, who will treat you with respect and honour whatever you wish to talk about in confidence, then I can offer that to you. I pride myself on placing all persons at the heart of my work and supporting people in making independent choices with their lives so that they can take control of their own destiny.

You can initially phone me and we can have a chat to see if you would like to meet. I use a log cabin that is warm, comfortable and peaceful.

If we work together then I will support you towards the goals and outcomes that you most want to achieve, so that you can move on with your life in the direction of your choice. I will work with you in a holistic, empathic, congruent way, respecting whatever direction you choose to take and with complete confidentiality.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my training some years ago attending Bridgwater College completing foundation and intermediate counselling courses and culminating in my qualifying in the Advanced Diploma in Counselling at the Dartmoor Centre for Counselling & Psychotherapy in Newton Abbot.

I also hold a Diploma in Sandplay,  Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Certificate in Couples Counselling.

I have an extensive working background in statutory organisations including local authority and the NHS. I have worked with people from all walks of life from all different backgrounds and all ages.

I currently work in a local charity where I co-ordinate a team of counsellors.

I am a registered member of BACP and I abide by the BACP ethical framework which can be found on the BACP website.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

My fee for a 1 hour session with an individual is £45. The first session will be longer for me to complete an assessment and explain about the contract but the charge is the same.

A 1.5 hour session with a couple is £60.

I do offer some concessionary rates for those on a low income.

Please note that I require 24 hours notice of a cancellation or I will have to charge 50% of the fee,  but this does not apply to an emergency.

I have day time and evening appointments that I can offer. There is also the possibility of some weekend appointments.
