Hello I'm Jane and I am an integrative counsellor, based in Kingsteignton near Newton Abbot.
If you are reading this then you have already taken the most difficult step as you have decided to seek help and support with whatever it is that you are dealing with. If we work together then I will hold a safe space for you to explore whatever issues you wish to bring and work with you towards the goals and outcomes you most want to achieve. I will do this in a non judgemental, holistic and empathic way, respecting your choices and with complete confidentiality.
You can initially phone me and we can have a chat to see if you would like to meet. I can offer you a calm, comfortable and peaceful space where we can meet with parking and accessible to a bus route.
Training, qualifications & experience
I started my training some years ago attending Bridgwater College completing foundation and intermediate counselling courses and I then went on to attend the Dartmoor Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy where I qualified in the Advanced Diploma in Counselling. After this I also completed the Diploma in Sandplay, Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Certificate in Couples Counselling.
Since then I have worked in private practice and I also oversee a counselling service in a local charity in Torbay.
I have an extensive working background in statutory organisations including local authority and the NHS. I have worked with people from all walks of life from all different backgrounds and all ages for the past 20 plus years.
I am a registered member of BACP and I abide by the BACP ethical framework which can be found on the BACP website.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£45.00 per session
My fee for a 1 hour face to face session with an individual is £45. The first session will be longer for me to complete an assessment and explain about the contract but the charge is the same.
I can also offer telephone counselling.
Please note that I require 24 hours notice of a cancellation or I will have to charge 50% of the fee, but this does not apply in an emergency.
The cabin I use is suitable for an individual and myself to be able to adhere to the 2 metre social distance between us. However, it isn't suitable for a couple and myself, therefore I have put couples counselling on hold until restrictions are changed.
Days and times to be discussed when you contact me.
You can contact me on either my mobile number 07858-916257 for an initial chat or you can contact me on e mail at JAMcounselling@hotmail.com
