About me

I am a Hampshire based Family Psychotherapist specialising in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Trauma therapy and EMDR. I offer therapy to individuals, couples and families.  I am committed to providing a safe and respectful space where clients can talk about their difficulties and where they can be supported to find solutions that fit with their beliefs and values.

My approach is flexible and person centred meaning that I see every client as a unique individual who is able to find their own solutions based on their unique experiences and circumstances. I adhere to NICE guidelines and treatment protocols whilst honouring the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for transformation and change.

I work collaboratively with my clients, acknowledging and respecting their diversity of culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, life experience and family background.

If you decide that you would like to contact me you can make an initial enquiry over the telephone or by email. During this initial communication we can discuss your goals for therapy and I will answer any questions that you may have and tell you about the types of therapy that offer and how I work.

I am committed to safe and professionally accountable practice. I adhere to the ethics and standards of my professional body, the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) which requires regular supervision and ongoing professional and personal development through attendance at regular training.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a practicing Psychotherapist working in the NHS and in private practice for more than 20 years. I initially trained as a nurse and later as a health visitor. Whilst working in the community with parents and young children, I developed an interest in working therapeutically with mothers with post-natal depression. This interest led me to train as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. Once qualified in this field, I initially worked in independent practice and then in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health), specialising in working with fostered and adopted children and their families.

In recent year I have undertaken training in the fields of Family therapy and Trauma. I commenced training in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy training at the Tavistock and Portman Foundation Trust in 2008 and qualified as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist in 2012.

I have also completed training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Emotionally focused couples therapy.

I now work in private practice and in the NHS where I specialise in working in the fields of trauma, family therapy, couples therapy, individual psychodynamic psychotherapy and attachment based dyadic developmental psychotherapy.

Additional information

If you decide that you would like to contact me you can make an initial enquiry over the telephone or by email. During this initial communication we would briefly discuss any questions you have and I will tell you about the types of therapy that I provide. There will be no charge for this enquiry.

Should you choose to proceed, we would then arrange a date, discuss fees and schedule an assessment session. Assessment sessions are generally longer than therapy sessions and are designed to discuss your difficulties, goals for treatment, treatment plan as well as provide you with an opportunity to ask further questions about therapy.

Following the assessment, you are under no obligation to continue treatment with me and should you wish, I can also recommend other therapists or services for you to access.

Should you choose to commence treatment we would then schedule in further appointments. These appointments will last approximately 50 or 90 minutes depending on the therapy and your specific needs.

Payment is taken either prior to the appointment or at the end of each appointment by bank transfer, cash or invoice to your insurance company.

If you are using health insurance, please check cover with your insurance company before booking your appointment. Most major insurance companies are accepted.

A full charge will be made for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice since I will be unable to use this time for another client.

I can consider hardship and concessions with evidence of need.

Together we will regularly review whether you are finding the sessions helpful. In the rare event that they are not deemed to be useful, we can agree to terminate the agreed course of treatment early. In this instance, no further fees are payable.

When I work

I see private clients on Tuesdays between 9am and 6pm
