About me

I offer face to face counselling in a calm & relaxed setting in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

I am also a registered nurse with over 30 years of experience working in the NHS. I have always been passionate about nursing & helping people physically & mentally deal with a diagnosis, illness, receiving bad news & those dealing with life trauma.

From working with clients I feel my nursing background adds value to my role as a person centred counsellor.

I have personal experience of dealing with trauma, together with bereavement & loss.

At the age of 50, I embarked on a 3 year journey to train as a person centred counsellor. This type of counselling empowers the client to discover solutions to issues in a safe & supportive environment.

As your counsellor, I am honest & respectful without any judgement whilst helping you to explore any issues you would like to bring to sessions. I will help you to process your feelings & to reach your own decisions & find your own solutions to problems.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition, I have trained with CRUSE bereavement care which has provided additional knowledge & skills to support clients through bereavement & loss.

I volunteered until recently as a listening Samaritan for 5 years at the Worcester branch.

I am a registered member of the BACP & have regular supervision to discuss & enhance my counselling skills, knowledge, experience & practice.

If you prefer telephone counselling this can also be arranged.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
