About me

My name is Dr Jan Ferris and I am a clinical psychologist.  I am based in North Glasgow with clinics in both Stepps and Bearsden. I offer therapeutic assessment and treatment to adults (age 18+) experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties.

Psychological therapies can help to make sense of distress, to understand why this is happening and what is keeping it going. During psychological therapy we work together to identify the changes that need to be made to reduce distress and improve wellbeing. I am an experienced therapist who uses a compassionate, client centred approach to support clients achieve their goals. All enquiries are welcome.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist working with people who present with psychological distress. I have extensive experience working with clients across the adult lifespan with a broad range of clinical presentations and complexity.

I am an approachable and down to earth therapist. I most enjoy working together with clients to help them make sense of their experiences and to support them to make the changes necessary to reduce distress. I am committed to delivering both the science and art of clinical psychology; providing focussed, evidence-based interventions in a way that is accessible, based on compassion and therapeutic connection.

I have extensive experience of working with various presentations including:

  • Abuse
  • Adjustment to Life Events
  • Anxiety (including: generalised anxiety disorder; obsessive compulsive disorder; panic attacks; phobias, and social anxiety)
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders (I do not offer a diagnostic service)
  • Complex Trauma (i.e. relating to significant harm in childhood)
  • Depression and Low Mood
  • Grief or Loss
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Self-Esteem Issues
  • Stress

This list is not exhaustive and I would be happy to discuss how I might help you.

I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2008.

I am a member of the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC number PYL26968). All clinical psychologists in the UK are regulated by the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). Registration of clinical psychologists with the HCPC demonstrates that they have the appropriate qualifications and experience to practice as a clinical psychologist and that they meet the HCPCs high standards of ethics, training, education and professional behaviour.
