About me

It is so important to feel comfortable and safe with the person you reach out to when feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what’s going on for you. I am a qualified, experienced practitioner and provide a calm and supportive  environment, where you can talk, in confidence, to someone who is non-judgemental and respectful of your difficulties and experiences. Please call me and we can see how I can be of help.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified practitioner with over 9 years of experience working with young people and adults. My qualifications include a BA (Honours) in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am an Individual Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am committed to providing high standards of ethical and moral practice in a safe environment. I work with integrity and confidentiality, putting you at the centre of all my work.

My approach is integrative, which means I tailor the way I work to suit you personally and, in turn, enable you to make the positive changes in your life. I understand that starting counselling is a difficult step to take and I offer a free, no-obligation 15 minute telephone consultation. This will provide an opportunity for us to discuss your main concerns, to find out how I can help and if you feel I am the right therapist for you.

Should you wish to proceed, we can work on a long or short term basis. We can review progress to make sure we keep on track to achieve your goals and to consider any other issues that may become apparent during that time.

I work from The Coastal Counselling Practice in Southbourne, Dorset, with plenty of free parking space.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
