About me

If you have barriers to expressing yourself, understanding emotions or feeling creative, Music Therapy could be for you. My primary aim is to get to know you for who you are and, through sensitive verbal and musical interaction, celebrate your personality, creativity and potential. Whatever challenges you experience, I hope to give you a sense of connection, acceptance and understanding.

I offer an inclusive and welcoming service where sessions are engaging and always tailored to individual needs. Music Therapy offers opportunities for free improvisation, song writing, musical games and reflection. It can be particularly beneficial for those experiencing anxiety, social isolation and difficulties expressing themselves. A way to self-regulate, develop greater self-awareness and build confidence in who you are.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MA Music Therapy (Guildhall School of Music & Drama 2014-2016)
  • PGDip Therapeutic Communication with children and young people (Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust 2009-2010)
  • BA with Hons Music & French (University of Durham 2004-2008)

I have worked as a music therapist in mainstream, SEN and SEMH schools, in NHS dementia and mental health settings and in community outreach centres within the charity sector.

I have been Head of Therapies at Resources for Autism since 2020, during which time I have also taught at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and presented work to the BAMT Autism Network.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
