About me

I am an experienced, fully qualified, Psychodynamic counsellor and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).I understand that sometimes in the midst of an emotionally painful or overwhelming time when life feels fraught it can be difficult to know how to connect with the counselling process and to know which counsellor is right for you.

I am able to offer a fully professional service:

  • A confidential and non-judgemental space.
  • A comfortable and safe environment.
  • Empathy and a listening ear.
  • Reasonable fees.
  • Open-ended counselling.

I have experience of working with a wide variety of needs in the counselling setting for example loss, which comes in many different forms such as bereavement, divorce, separation and broken relationships. Other areas include abuse, trauma, identity and problems with low self-esteem. I also have a breadth of understanding in relation to depression and anxiety and can empathise with many painful thoughts and feelings that you may be finding unbearable.

About counselling

If you're at a place in your life where you are struggling to cope and make sense of your circumstances then perhaps it's time for you to access counselling. This can enable you to process difficult and sometimes intolerable thoughts and feelings in a safe space; just changing your patterns of thinking can help. The psychodynamic counselling relationship can help you to explore some of these patterns as well as your life story and the impact of them both on your current situation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed a five year training, accredited by the BACP and have the following qualifications:

  • Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling
  • Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling

I practice in accordance with the BACP's ethical framework and have my own private practice in Luton following many years of experience working within a charitable organisation.

Before training as a qualified counsellor, I travelled extensively and had a career path that I now see has proved beneficial in giving me a wealth of experiences, bringing me into contact with a diversity of people from different backgrounds, culture, age groups and faiths.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Sessions are weekly and last 50 minutes:

Initial appointment session: £25.00

Ongoing weekly session: £40.00

The initial appointment is an opportunity for you to talk about what's troubling you and to think about what you might like to gain from your counselling, giving you the space to ask any questions and to see if I am the right counsellor for you. Attending this initial assessment does not mean that you are obliged to continue onto counselling sessions.

I offer a small number of concessionary rates for those who would otherwise be unable to attend counselling, this can be discussed at the initial appointment.
