About me

I offer 1:1 counselling for adults or young people to support with mental health. I offer person-centred counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused therapeutic approaches.

I have experience working within NHS iapt services and Mental Health Support Teams within schools and colleges. I’ve also worked as a counsellor within a University counselling service providing therapy counselling for staff and students.  Experienced counselling across Southport and West Lancashire within local charities such as Parenting 2000 and organisations.

Experienced supporting clients with a variety of presenting factors including anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, coping with change, family issues, relationships, Autism and ADHD - pre and post diagnosis, grief and loss, work/career, overload and overwhelm.

You may have reached a point where things feel overwhelming or you might be experiencing feelings of low mood or anxiety. Counselling can help you to find a way through.

I believe having the opportunity to explore more about ourselves, developing deeper self awareness and coping strategies, at any point in our life can help us to feel more equipped to cope with life’s challenges.

What counselling offers

Counselling offers you time and space to talk and unravel thoughts to gain clarity. Sessions are tailored to suit you.

We are all unique - facing different situations throughout our lives. Counselling can help you to gain new perspective or insight into some of the issues that you may be experiencing.

Counselling can help you to find your own understanding and a way forward through situations you are facing.

Small steps

I understand making first steps to reach for support can feel daunting and we’ll take things at your own pace.  Counselling can be a really positive experience and through our sessions I aim to help you to find your own answers and develop more positive ways to cope.

Please contact me to book sessions, for an initial telephone consultation or for more information to help to decide if I am the right counsellor for you or for your young person.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
